Applications Index

The software is all free, with no royalties or warranties. There are some niche utilities for changing backgrounds, text searching, image viewing, etc. Mostly applications that I had a use for at the time, couldn't find for free, and wrote myself. Nothing earth-shaking here, or very complicated.

Cycler

The cycler program is a very small utility to change your Windows wallpaper, the background you see behind the icons. It doesn't connect to the internet, nor does it hog memory or even sit in the system tray. It runs once, quickly, and then exits until the next time. The program will cycle through all the available bitmaps in your Windows folder and then start over again. When it runs depends on where you install it; by default it puts itself in the startup folder so it runs each time the computer is booted. Because it is so small, there won't be a noticeable decrease in boot time. There is no GUI interface, just the bare bones to accomplish the job.

MiniView

The Miniview application is a small-as-possible program to help distribute digital camera files on CD-ROM. It provides the user with a quick and easy slideshow, in an easy to understand interface. I tested it out on my relatives; no one had a problem understanding how it worked. It's that simple. It also makes a nifty JPEG viewer if you want to install it locally and use it instead of the default Windows viewer; it's faster and easier to use. For flipping through digital camera pictures, it's hard to beat.

ShowOff

The showoff program is much like MiniView, only a bit more complex. It makes a great viewer for digital camera images, but isn't good for much else.

WinRep

WinRep is a search and replace utility for text files on Windows. It's fast and it's simple, that's about all I can say about it. The best feature is that it keeps a history of the files searched, so if you find yourself continually doing search and replace on the same set of text files, this could be the thing for you.
